Research excerpt

The tomato market is one of the key vegetable markets in India in terms of volume. At the end of 2014-2015 the volume of this market, taking into account only industrial production, exceeded 1300 thousand tons. An even more significant volume of tomatoes is grown by the population in their farms. Part of the tomatoes grown on personal farmsteads are sold in the season in the markets, and some are eaten and processed for harvesting by amateur vegetable growers themselves.
