Research excerpt

Part 1. Overview of the Indian foil market
1.1.Main characteristics of the market
The object of this study is foil. The most common type is aluminum foil, which today is extremely in demand in trade, everyday life and industry.
Its production is a rather complicated process both in terms of technology and equipment. Aluminum and its various alloys are repeatedly cold rolled sequentially through special steel shafts, the gap between which gradually decreases at each stage. Foil thickness ranges from 6 microns to 0,2 mm. Modern production of foil makes it possible to obtain it quite thin, but this reduces the resistance to mechanical stress. To make it more durable, manufacturers glue the foil with other materials: polymer films, paper, cardboard, hot melt adhesive. This makes the packaging stronger, and also allows printed text and various images to be applied to it.

1.2. Dynamics of the foil market volume in 2012-2017 Market volume
Consider the dynamics of the volume and capacity of the foil market in India.
During 2012-2017 The dynamics of the Indian aluminum foil market in value terms was positive, except for 2013. Thus, in 2013 there was a decline by …% compared to 2012, which was caused by a slight decrease in imports. In 2014-2015 market … at double-digit rates, … by 2015 by … times compared to 2013. This fact is primarily explained by …
In 2016, the growth rate … up to …%, in 2017 – up to …%, which indicates the stabilization of the market situation. Thus, in 2017 the volume of the Indian aluminum foil market is … billion Rs.

1.3. Assessment of factors affecting the market
Consider the main factors affecting the Indian aluminum foil market and, accordingly, demand. …
Economic
Data on the dynamics of GDP is a macroeconomic indicator that reflects the market value of all final goods and services (that is, intended for direct consumption) produced per year in all sectors of the economy on the territory of the state for consumption, export and accumulation.
For the period 2012-2014 there was a decrease in the annual GDP growth rate, and by the end of 2015 and 2016, the GDP dynamics moved into the negative zone. On the whole, the decline in GDP is a very serious symptom; against its background, a slowdown in a significant part of business processes in the country is predicted. In general, in 2016, the negative dynamics of GDP persists, however, the rate of decline relative to 2015 has somewhat slowed down. Thus, the economic crisis has negatively affected the Indian foil market.
GDP growth of 1,5% in 2017 indicated the recovery of the economy and its further development, which had a positive impact on the aluminum foil market.

According to the data of the Federal Customs Service, the import of aluminum foil to India in 2012 in physical terms amounted to … thousand tons. In 2013, the volume of imported products … by …% and reached the value of … thousand tons. In 2014, … was observed, the dynamics was …%, and the volume of imports was … thousand tons. But already in 2015, the trend is … , foil imports in India … by …% to the level of … thousand tons. This fact is explained by the devaluation of the Indian rupee and, as a result, the rise in the cost of foreign-made products. In 2016, the import of products …, the growth rate amounted to …%, and the volume – … thousand tons. Domestic producers seized the initiative and prevented importers from gaining a foothold on the market again. At the end of 2017, … began to grow again - already by …% compared to 2016, and the volume of imported foil amounted to … thousand tons.
